Dr. Jochen Brandhoff
What he advises on today, he has answered for himself — as a law firm founder, as a general counsel, as an entrepreneur.
Beginning
At seventeen, in 1993, he founded DECAMERONE, his first company, and became the exclusive German distributor for Cartiere Paolo Pigna, then Italy’s largest stationery manufacturer, as well as for SEPA, an Italian maker of design-led office products. In 1999 he went on to found Jus2Click, one of Germany’s first legal-tech companies. The platform combined live instruction, interactive case training and a learning database that opened up the entire syllabus for the First State Examination in Law as a digital knowledge network: cases, statutes, doctrinal disputes and review questions no longer stood side by side; they interlocked. He later sold both companies.

Entrepreneur and Investor
His entrepreneurial perspective rests on first-hand responsibility: in 2011 he founded the Frankfurt law firm Brandhoff Obermüller Partner with then 15 lawyers and led it until 2024. Before that, as managing director of an international photovoltaic general contractor, he was responsible for annual revenues of around 50 million euros. As General Counsel of a listed plant engineering company, he came to understand the connection between law and business from within.
Today he combines law and entrepreneurship as an advisory board member, supervisory board member, angel investor and adviser — for legal tech companies, start-ups, law firms and in-house legal teams, on scaling, digitalisation and AI integration.
The Legal Market and AI
A particular focus of his lies on the structural development of the legal market — as co-initiator of the German Legal Tech Summit, founder of LEGAL REVOLUTION and the LRZ, and as an investor in legal tech and AI. LEGAL REVOLUTION grew into Europe’s largest trade fair for law and compliance, the LRZ into Germany’s most widely read e-journal for business law and digitalisation; he sold both to Milan-based Edra S.p.A. in 2024.
He writes regularly on legal developments, artificial intelligence and the digital transformation of the legal market — in his column “Brandhoffs KI-Guide” in the legal magazine Kompass (Sack Fachmedien / Otto Schmidt Verlag) and as co-author of the commentary “AGB-Recht im unternehmerischen Rechtsverkehr” (C. H. Beck).
Lawyer and Arbitrator
As a lawyer, he advises companies and shareholders — beyond the purely legal question. In the TUI proceedings, he represented his client before the European Court of Justice.
As an arbitrator, he decides national and international commercial disputes — in DIS and ad hoc proceedings alike — with a focus on corporate law, M&A, the digital economy and renewable energy.
